A room-by-room list helps explain what is being transported. Quantities and dimensions need checking, even if you start from a template.

Start with what will be moved. A moving inventory becomes less useful if it mixes furniture that is staying, boxes not yet counted and items someone else will collect. Go through each room and record only your belongings included in the move; set aside any questions to resolve before requesting a quote.
A first walk-through of the home
You can start with a simple list or open “More inventory options” → “Organise by room”. If you use a suggested set of items, remove what you do not have, add what is missing and check the quantities. The template is a starting point; it does not by itself describe what is in your home.
| What you find | What to do with the list |
|---|---|
| Wardrobe that stays behind | Remove the furniture; count its contents once packed |
| Table and chairs duplicated as a set | Keep the set or the individual pieces, without duplicating them |
| Box still open | Leave the quantity pending if it may still be split |
| Item with a checked measurement | Record the quantity and dimensions of that item |
| Object you will carry yourself | Separate it from the contracted transport |
You can group the list by room even if the destination has a different layout. This makes it easier to check the hallway cupboard, balcony or storage room without counting the same thing twice. In a shared move, distinguish your belongings from other people’s.
- Count each piece of furniture and the packages you already know about.
- Identify items that can be taken apart and ask who will handle disassembly and reassembly.
- Flag delicate or bulky pieces, or those with difficult access.
- Include what you store outside the main rooms.
If you have not packed yet, record a provisional number of boxes and check it once they are ready. “Boxes still to be counted” is more informative than a figure chosen just to fill in the form. In the Calcula y Contrata inventory, pending quantities are not added to the volume.
Catalogue dimensions are a reference
Check length, width and height when your furniture differs from the example. A table measuring 1.20 × 0.80 × 0.75 metres has a geometric volume of 0.72 m³. That calculation does not determine how the vehicle will be loaded or how much space will remain between items. If the furniture will travel dismantled, explain that to the company.
Before sharing, check smaller spaces again and compare the list with the photos. A photo of a group of items can help explain it, but does not replace quantities, measurements or an explanation of what stays behind. The inventory prepares the conversation; the company must confirm the scope of the move.
